CONTROL ARMS

An integral part of a vehicle's steering and suspension system, control arms provide a link between the vehicle chassis and the wheel assembly or steering knuckle, connecting to both on opposite ends via a ball joint.

ADVANTAGES OF NAKATA CONTROL ARMS

Enhanced Durability: Nakata control arms are made from forged steel, cast aluminium or other robust materials that can withstand stress, impacts, and corrosion. This reduces the risk of bending or breaking.

Superior Bushings: Premium control arms feature high-grade resilient rubber or polyurethane bushings that resist wear, heat, and cracking. This ensures consistent performance and a longer lifespan.

Precision Engineering: Manufactured to exact OE specifications, guaranteeing a perfect fit and maintaining the vehicle's intended geometry for optimal alignment.

THE CONTROL ARM DOESN'T WORK ALONE

It's important to check other components that work together to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the system.

HOW TO DETECT PROBLEMS

Control arms can fail from standard wear and tear; however, it is often the result of a sudden impact or environmental factors that damage the body, bushings, or ball joint. If a control arm fails, common indicators of this may include:

  • Clunking noises when driving over bumps or making sharp turns

  • Knocking noises when accelerating or braking

  • Steering pulling to one side, especially during braking or accelerating, or feeling loose and less responsive during cornering

  • Vibration through the steering wheel that is especially noticeable when accelerating or braking

  • Uneven tyre wear caused by wheel misalignment

  • Visible damage such as cracked or torn bushings, rust, bends or cracks in the arm itself, or ball joint play
